PAMHA IP1 PROGRAM
The first 9ish weeks of the program, the players will be placed in skill appropriate groups and have consistent ice times. They will go through a variety of drills each practice with fun games and scrimmages incorporated. The practices are dictated by the Hockey Canada Initiation Program.
The practices will be run using stations, the players will be placed in groups and move from station to station…with each station concentrating on a different skill.
From Mid December to late March. The players will be placed on teams. We do our best to make the teams even. We will run 2 divisions… MITE and TYKE. MITE is generally for 1st year players & some 2nd year players. TYKE is for 3rd year players and some 2nd year players. There will be 4 MITE teams and 4 TYKE teams. This is when we begin to run Wed/Thur practices and Saturday games. The MITE teams will get incorporated into the Thursday ice (5-6pm).
This program is only as successful as the volunteer coaches who run it. Thanks to everyone who signed up already to coach, a coach’s email will be sent shortly. If you do not get a coach’s email in the next few days, please email us and we will get you on the list.
GOALS OF THE PROGRAM
Your player will learn the skills of skating, puck control, passing and shooting in a progressive one step at a time manner. Although the emphasis is on fun and fundamental skill development, the Initiation Program also allows players to experience fitness, fair play and cooperation.
This program runs because of volunteers, both on and off the ice. We will be sending out emails asking for volunteers throughout the season for things like the Robin’s Tournament, clothing, pictures, etc.
