HNO COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate
Today, a Special Meeting was convened by Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) regarding the announcement of a COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate for all Players born in 2009 or earlier, Team Officials, Game Officials, Association Officials, HNO Officials and Volunteers. HNO is the Hockey Canada Branch and Governing Body for all hockey associations in Northwestern Ontario.
Details of the mandate will soon be released. At this time, we have been informed all players born in 2009 or earlier without a medical exemption will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 27th, 2021.
Please note, 14 days are needed following a 2nd dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated. As well, at least 28 days are needed in between a 1st and a 2nd dose.
Therefore, to meet the November 27th deadline, unvaccinated participants will need to start their vaccination process by, at the very latest, Oct 16th, 2021. Please note this DOES NOT take into consideration the time needed to book appointments, access to Immunization Clinics, or the availability of the COVID-19 Vaccine.
